Delft University of Technology (TUDelft) is the oldest and largest university of technology in the Netherlands with over 15000 students and over 2700 scientific staff members (2008). The scientific output included 236 PhD dissertations and 7025 publications in scientific journals. DIMES (Delft Institute of Microsystems and Nanoelectronics) is a multidisciplinary research school embedded in TUDelft. DIMES has on average 160 PhD students and over 200 MSc students. The scientific staff is attracted from all over the world and the PhD students originate from 23 different nations.  DIMES integrates nanoscale and high-speed device physics, material science and process technology, circuit design, and embedded system design methodology in one institute. The research focus of DIMES is to explore the boundaries of engineering possibilities, both in present-day and future applications of silicon and silicon-based technology.
